We believe understanding the cost of care should never be a mystery. Here is exactly what to expect, with no hidden fees and no surprises.
Every neurofeedback journey starts with a clear picture of how your brain is functioning. Our comprehensive qEEG brain map is the most affordable entry point in the region and includes everything you need to get started, analyzed through the NewMind clinical platform.
One-time assessment
We offer a free 15-minute consultation before you commit to anything. Ask questions, share your concerns, and find out if neurofeedback is the right fit — with zero pressure and zero cost.
After your brain map, you will begin a series of neurofeedback training sessions tailored to your unique brain patterns. Each session is relaxing, painless, and takes about 45 minutes, consistent with BCIA clinical standards.

Most clients see meaningful improvement within 15 to 30 sessions, as supported by clinical research, though some notice changes in as few as 5 to 10. Your brain map results, the specific condition being addressed, and your individual response all play a role. Our clinical team will give you a realistic estimate after reviewing your brain map.
For families who prefer the convenience of training at home, or who live outside the Boerne area, we offer a home neurofeedback rental program powered by the NewMind remote monitoring system. You train on your own schedule using the same professional-grade equipment we use in the office, with ongoing remote support from our team.
Contact us for current home training rates. Home rental includes the neurofeedback equipment, setup guidance, remote protocol adjustments, and regular check-in sessions. A completed in-office brain map is required before starting home training.

In most cases, neurofeedback is not covered by standard health insurance plans. While neurofeedback has a strong evidence base and has been used clinically for decades, the majority of insurance companies still classify it as investigational. This is slowly changing as organizations like the AAP and ISNR continue to validate the research.
The good news is that neurofeedback is eligible for Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) funds. This means you can use pre-tax dollars to pay for your brain map and training sessions through Rivers Edge Counseling & Wellness, effectively reducing your cost by 20 to 35 percent. The BCIA recognizes neurofeedback as a legitimate clinical service eligible for these accounts.
If you would like to submit claims to your insurance company or use your HSA/FSA, here are the relevant CPT codes:
CPT 90901 — Biofeedback training. This is the primary code used for neurofeedback training sessions.
CPT 95816 — Electroencephalogram (EEG). This code applies to the qEEG brain mapping assessment.
We can provide a superbill (detailed receipt) after each session that includes the CPT codes, diagnosis information, and provider details. You can submit this to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Some plans do reimburse a portion of the cost, so it is always worth checking with your provider.
If you want to check whether your plan offers any coverage, call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask these questions:
We make payment as straightforward as the rest of the process. The following methods are accepted:
Payment is due at the time of service. If you purchase a multi-session package, we can arrange a payment plan to spread the cost over time. Just ask during your consultation.
We understand that neurofeedback is a financial commitment, and we think it is worth looking at the bigger picture before you decide.
| Approach | Monthly Cost | Annual Cost | 5-Year Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| ADHD medication (with copay) | $50 – $300 | $600 – $3,600 | $3,000 – $18,000 |
| Weekly therapy sessions | $400 – $800 | $4,800 – $9,600 | $24,000 – $48,000 |
| Medication + therapy combined | $450 – $1,100 | $5,400 – $13,200 | $27,000 – $66,000 |
| Neurofeedback training (typical course) | $2,500 – $5,000 total, with lasting results that often reduce or eliminate the need for ongoing treatment | ||
There is also a real cost to not addressing the issue. Untreated ADHD, anxiety, sleep problems, and other conditions affect job performance, relationships, academic success, and overall quality of life. When you factor in lost productivity, strained relationships, and the cumulative toll on well-being, the investment in neurofeedback often pays for itself many times over.
Unlike medication, which only works while you are taking it, neurofeedback creates lasting changes in your brain's neural pathways. Many clients complete a course of training and maintain their improvements for years, as follow-up studies confirm. Once your brain learns the pattern, it tends to keep it.
Your $99 Brain Map is the first step. It is painless, takes about 30 minutes, and gives you real answers about what is going on in your brain — using the same qEEG methodology trusted by clinicians worldwide.
